The most well known icing we get is buttercream icing. This icing is made of butter, vanilla essence, icing and if you would like to add some milk as well.
Then we get royal icing, this icing sets more quickly because of the egg whites. It makes cakes have a more clean effect. This type of icing is a mix of egg whites and icing sugar.
Cream Cheese Icing:
Then we get cream cheese icing. This icing is a mix of butter and cream cheese and sometimes icing sugar.
Chocolate Ganache Icing:
Then we get the chocolate ganache icing that is used on simple cakes like red velvet to give it a more sweet taste. It is usually a mix between melted chocolate and cream. The picture of this cake with the icing is not my own but from a cake I bought.
Then we get Fondant icing, usually used in birthday cakes, anniversary cakes and weddings. You can buy already made fondant icing which makes it easier and not so time consuming.
