Potato bake is a South-African favourite. With this simple recipe you will make it in a snap and friends and family will absolutely love it.
You will need:
5-7 medium sized potatoes washed
500ml of grated cheese
1 cup of sour cream
Coarse salt and pepper to taste
Paprika for on top
I added some peppadew’s and mushrooms just for something a little extra. You can add anything extra you prefer even bacon and onions!
In a pot on the stove place the potatoes in the pot, cook for 25-30 minutes till soft and cooked through.
Drain the water and let the potatoes cool down.
In a square baking tray spray with spray and cook and slice the potatoes up in slices. Place one layer of potato in the baking tray. Add the peppadew and mushroom slices on top and in between the potatoes.
Add salt and pepper, and garlic powder and pour some sour cream over and then sprinkle some cheese over, repeat this until all your potatoes is finish. Sprinkle some paprika on top.
Place in a preheated oven of 180 Degrees Celsius for 45 minutes until golden brown on the top.
Remove from the oven and let it cool down for a few minutes.
Great served with barbecues!
