Potato bake is a South-African favourite. With this simple recipe you will make it in a snap and friends and family will absolutely love it.
You will need:
8 medium sized yellow potatoes washed
700g of Grated cheese
500ml of Fresh cream
Coarse salt and pepper to taste
Garlic Powder
Crispy fried shallots for extra flavour (optional)
I added crispy shallots for extra flavour. You can add anything extra you prefer even bacon and some friend onions.
In a pot on the stove place the potatoes in the pot, cook for 25-30 minutes till soft and cooked through.
Drain the water and let the potatoes cool down.
In a square baking tray spray with spray and cook and slice the potatoes up in slices. Place one layer of potato in the baking tray. Add the garlic, salt and pepper, shallots and cream and grated cheese.
Repeat the layers until all your potatoes is finished. Finish with some fried crispy shallots and sprinkle of some cheese.
Place in a preheated oven of 180 Degrees Celsius for 1 hour until golden brown on top.
Remove from the oven and let it cool down for a few minutes.
Great addition to barbecues.
