Custard Milk Tart

Custard tart is a kiwi favourite. Milk tart is a South African favourite. I thought I would combine the two and bring two favourites of each country together.

The custard is not overpowering, it’s delicious and just right.

Happy baking from our kitchen to yours.

4 Eggs Mixed
700ml Milk
80ml Caster Sugar
8 Tbs Cornflour mixed with water to form a liquid
375ml Custard
Pinch of Salt

For the Base:
250g Biscuits crushed + 50g butter melted.
Crumbled together with a fork and then placed in a prepared rectangular dish. Place in the fridge to set.

In a microwave safe bowl, add in the 4 eggs, 700ml milk, cornflour mixture, caster sugar and pinch of salt. Mix with a hand mixer till well incorporated.

Place in the microwave for 6 – 10 minutes, whisking every 2 minute intervals. The milk tart mixture should be a sauce consistency.

Add in the 375ml custard and mix through till well incorporated. Place on your biscuit base and sprinkle some cinnamon on top.

Place in the fridge to set for 2 – 3 hours.

Serve & enjoy!
