There is just something about homemade chips that doesn’t tastes like the store bought ones. I will share with you,me and my husbands homemade chips recipe. It’s simple and easy and also quick to make.
Peel 5 big potatoes. Cut up the peeled potatoes in chip sizes and place in a jug with some water, covering the potatoes. The water helps to remove all the excess starch of the potatoes. Leave the potatoes in the water for about 10-15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, drain the water and run the water through the potatoes till the water runs clear. Place a paper towel on a baking tray, add the potato chips and pat dry with a cloth.
In a deep fryer, add in canola oil filled to the maximum amount. Set the setting to 180 degrees celsius and wait for the oil to heat up. Place a handful of the potato chips in the oil. Wait till it rises and is golden, for about 10 minutes.
Remove from the oil after it is crispy and soft in the inside. Place in a new serving tray covered with paper towel. Add some coarse salt or any seasoning you prefer. Do these steps with all the chips, till all the chips is done.
Serve and enjoy as a side to a barbecue or just on it’s own with a delicious dipping sauce!
