As mom’s we have so much to carry, that sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves too.
We carry this mental load that no one really sees, the emotional baggage of all our loved ones. The wiping away of tears and always being their for everyone and always needed.
We cry behind closed doors, when the stars are shining and all the lights are off, that’s when we cry where no one sees us. Filled with so much doubt in ourselves and the picture that society draws up of us and what they expect us to do and how to be.
The world is filled with so many uncertainty that we must have a good support system and people who hears us and validates us. Our mental load is all those hours of tasks to do. The time consuming housework that never ends.
When we doubt ourselves, and realise that we are worthy and deserve only the best. Someone that will stand beside us, cheer us on and help us in carrying that mental load.
This not only fall on the mom’s but on the dad’s too, the single parents too and all parents. For you I just want to say that you are doing a great job. Your partner or spouse should help you carry that mental load and also balance the heaviness out.
In all partnerships, we should balance each other out, give each other space but also to enjoy things that we love to do. In order to be the best mom I can be to my kids, I need to look after myself, take care of myself and my mental health.
Our kids deserve the best version of me every day and yes we are all flawed in our own way. We are only human but to be the best parent we need to work on ourselves. We are all a work in progress.
To the mom, the working mom, the working from home mom and the working mom, tonight I just want to say to you that you are doing a great job. You are doing better than you think and you are rocking it.
We may have tears to shed, but by the grace of God we make it through everyday. Juggling two kiddies that is 18 months apart, those beginning years of baby and toddler was so hard, I can’t even remember how we made it but we did.
There is still a long journey ahead but I am so excited and nervous for what’s to come.
